KATIE GREEN (she/her)

Katie is a Director/ Producer/ Cinematographer from London. She began working in docs in 2007 as one half of the writing team behind In Prison My Whole Life (Sundance Film Festival, winner of Best Film Prize at Geneva Human Rights Film Festival).

After co-producing a handful of social justice focused films in the U.K she moved stateside to co-direct her first feature doc The (Dead Mothers) Club with Carlye which was picked up by HBO.  Since co-founding Smoke & Apple Films the pair have directed ‘The Family I Had’ and ‘1275 Days’ which have screened at festivals around the world, and contributed to the complicated ongoing conversations surrounding juvenile incarceration in the US.

The pair continue to collaborate on new projects coming soon.

CARLYE RUBIN (she/her)

Carlye is a Director/Producer/writer passionate about telling stories that break taboos, provide an injustice a platform or give insight into a unique individual.

After working in various capacities on documentaries including Capitalism: A Love Story and The Swell Season, she co-founded Smoke & Apple Films with Katie to make her directorial debut with The (Dead Mothers) Club (HBO, 2014) and followed up with The Family I Had (Tribeca Film Festival, Discovery I.D., 2017) and 1275 Days (2015, Points North Fellow, DOCNYC, 2019). In addition to S&A films, Carlye enjoys collaborating with other filmmakers as a story producer and researcher.

TINA GRAPENTHIN (she/her)

Tina is an Editor who began her career as an assistant editor on numerous award winning documentaries, including If A Tree Falls (Oscar nomination for Best Feature Doc 2012, winner of the Editing Award 2011 Sundance Film Festival; PBS), Racing Dreams (winner Tribeca Film Festival, PBS), and Good Fortune (News & Documentary Emmy 2011, winner Silverdocs 2010, PBS).  

Since then she edited and produced HBO Documentary The (Dead Mothers) Club, The Family I Had (Discovery I.D.) and co-edited The Supreme Price (2014, AFI Docs, Full Frame).

MARIE MESLIN (she/her/elle)

Marie is a Producer who focuses on projects that center Women’s Rights and Social Justice. Marie started in the arts and human rights before carving out a career in creative innovation.

She then went on to leading non-profits and creating communities focused on social impact, with a particular focus on Capital Access, Women’s Rights and The New Majority.

Marie is originally from France but grew up in the UK and lived in the Middle East before moving to the US in 2003 and finally becoming a #NewAmerican in 2019.
